If you’ve ever used a Roland D-50 plugin to design sounds, you already know how much easier it is compared to programming directly on the hardware.

But there’s one problem.

While the plugin can import SysEx data just like the original Roland D-50, it exports banks in a BIN format that isn’t directly compatible with the real synth. On top of that, the plugin includes additional PCM samples and reverb types that don’t exist on the hardware, making some patches impossible to reproduce exactly.

I ran into this limitation myself while working on a set of sounds I wanted to move from the plugin to my real Roland D-50. There are some online tools available, but I needed something faster, standalone, and capable of batch conversion.

So I built my own.

In the video below, I walk through the tool and show how you can convert plugin banks into hardware-ready files that can be sent to the D-50 via SysEx.

If you find this tool useful and want to support further development, you can make a small donation via PayPal.

How it works

  • Load your plugin bank file(s)
  • Convert it to a hardware-compatible format
  • Send it to your Roland D-50 via SysEx

That’s it.
